Seton Catholic School offers many opportunities for our students to be involved. In addition to athletics and clubs, we offer the following activities both during and outside the school day.
SGN
Seton Good News (SGN) is our inhouse TV studio. Our students help manage the studio as well as anchor the live broadcast to all classrooms each morning.
Academic Team
Middle school students can join the academic team to compete against other local area middle schools.
Musical
Each spring our middle school puts on a musical for the entire community to enjoy.
Choirs
Nova Voices: Nova Voices is an introductory performing arts group for first through third graders with choral singing as its focus but may also include drama, playing instruments, and other activities. Rehearsals will begin after Fall Break and will run through the Christmas Concert in December.
Schola Cantorum: Beginning in third grade, students can join this training group to be a Psalmist and cantor as a service to our church community. Schola Cantorum meets on Tuesday mornings from 7:30-7:50. After the initial weeks of training, participants need only come to the Tuesday rehearsals the weeks they are scheduled to sing. Participants will need to be available Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school.
Star Singers: Committing to Wednesday after school rehearsals from 3-4 from October through mid-spring (date TBA), singers in grades 4-8 who are serious about learning good vocal technique, sight singing, and to sing in harmony utilizing a variety of styles of choral music are invited to participate in Star Singers. Star Singers typically perform several times during its season and beyond. Performances may include a Lexington Legends game, singing at the weekend Catholic Schools Week kickoff mass, Christmas Concert, Spring Concert, Kentucky Music Educators Association Large Group Assessment, and more. Opportunities are available to audition for and/or participate in regional, state, and national honor choirs.
Star Tones: Star Tones is offered to middle school Star Singers who are seeking more challenging music. Star Tones is offered at the request of participants, and rehearsals are scheduled based on the availability of the members.
Church Service
Seton Catholic School students have the opportunity to join the church music ministry as part of the children’s choir, lecture or cantor during school masses, altar serve during weekend liturgies and much more.
