The School Council is comprised of 9 members who serve as an advisory board to the pastor and the principal. The board includes three parent representatives and 6 parish representatives. School Council members are appointed by Father John after completing an application and interview process. Terms last for three years. In an effort to promote a strong relationship and good communication with the parish the School Council has representatives who serve on the Parish Council and the Parish Building and Grounds Committee.
Laura Smith Williamson
Laura Smith Williamson is serving her first year as a parent representative for the Seton Catholic School Council. She grew up in Frankfort, Kentucky and attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church and School. Laura has been married to Ryan Williamson for 20 years. Ryan grew up in Lexington and attended Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and School and Lexington Catholic High School. The Williamson family joined SEAS in 2010. They are the proud parents of two children. Jake is currently a First Grader at Seton and Sophia will be attending the Pre-K 3 year olds program. Laura gives her time and talents for many Seton projects and committees such as the Parent Volunteer Committee PVC, Evening with the Stars, Country Fair, and volunteering in the school at events and in the classroom. Laura completed her Christ Renews His Parish journey and is on CRHP team #26. After studying at Miami of Ohio, Laura has used her skills in Marketing, Advertising and Speech Communications working in advertising agencies, for corporate marketing departments and for non-profit charitable organizations. She is excited to help Seton grow as one community, combined of church and school.
Michelle is serving her second year as a parent representative for the Seton Catholic School Board. She grew up in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky and attended Catholic schools from 1st through 12th grade. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy and then went on to the University of Kentucky where she obtained her degree in Physical Therapy. Michelle settled in Lexington where she met her husband of 18 years, Chris. They have three children, Steven (11th)and Adam (10th) who attend Lexington Catholic and Morgan (8th) who attends Seton. Michelle and her family have been members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church for the past 14 years. In addition to serving on the school board, Michelle is also a member of the SPICE committee at Seton, is an active volunteer in many community activities and is employed as a Physical Therapist at St. Joseph East Hospital. As a board member, she wants to work together to find ways to help to continue to grow the students, staff and community of Seton in faith, knowledge and discipline.
Lisa Holmes is serving her first year as parent representative for the Seton Catholic School Council. She and her husband Eric were married at Christ the King in Lexington in 2003. She and her husband joined St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in 2013 and have two children attending Seton Catholic School. Lisa is actively involved in school and church ministries such as the Parent Volunteer Committee, CRHP, and Hospitality. She holds a BA in Political Science and a Master’s of Public Administration, specializing in Community Development. Lisa worked as a project manager for the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development until 2010 when she left the workforce to become a stay at home mom. She is an alumni of the University of Kentucky and loves cheering on the CATS! Lisa loves the Seton Community and is excited about the opportunity to help it grow and lead the church and school into a stronger community.
Sherry will be serving her third year as a Parish Representative for the Seton School Board. Sherry is a cradle Catholic and became a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in 1997. Married to Wesley Bacon who is also a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church upon conversion to Catholicism in 2001. Sherry and Wesley are blessed with 8 Godchildren between the two of them. Sherry is very involved with the parish and has also served on both Parish Council and Chair of Stewardship Council. Sherry graduated from the University of Kentucky and currently works for Anderson Communities as Commercial Property Manager.
Willie will be serving his first year as a Parish Representative for the Seton School Board. He and his wife, Karen, have three older children and a grand-daughter that started Seton School this year in the all-day Pre-K program. In 1999, Willie became a full member of the Catholic Church after being baptized, confirmed and receiving full Communion at the Easter Vigil at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Since that time, he has continued as a catechist and sponsor for RCIA, served on the fair board and on parish council as president as well as being involved in many other church activities. He is also currently working with the SEAS Youth as a group leader. Willie works as manager for Hinkle Contracting. He is looking forward to supporting the continued success of Seton Catholic School .
Kim and her husband Robert have two children, Jacob (8th) and Abby (6th) currently enrolled in Seton. Kim and Robert have been members of the parish for 10 years. She has been involved in various aspects of the Seton community from PTO secretary, Children’s Liturgy of the Word minister, fair worker, lector at mass and Eucharist minister. Kim is beginning her first year as parent representative to the school board. Kim grew up in Cincinnati and attended Catholic schools grades 1-12. Kim works at the Operations Manager for the Cath/EP labs at the University of Kentucky Gill Heart Institute. She is excited to see that Seton continues to grow and provide the students with the necessary tools they need to become successful adults.
Kathy will be serving her second year as a Parish Representative for the Seton School Board. Kathy and her husband, Jon, have been members of SEAS for 28 years. They have 3 children and 8 grandchildren, 3 which are students at Seton School: Kate (4th grade), Sara (2nd grade) and Jackson (K). Kathy retired from Fayette County Schools where she taught students with severe disabilities for 24 years. She received a bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University and a master’s degree and Rank 1 from the University of Kentucky. She is a member of the SPICE committee and enjoys volunteering with the Step by Step and Barton programs at Seton School.
Donna is serving her first year as a Parish Representative for the Seton Catholic School Board. She grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio and attended Catholic schools from K through 12th grade. She is a graduate of Ashland University where she received her undergraduate degree in Marketing and MBA in Executive Management. She recently relocated to Lexington for a position with Baptist Health Plan. Donna has two children – Kyle, a senior at Canisius College and Kara, a junior at Ohio University. Donna is a founding member of Seton Catholic School in Hudson, Ohio where she was instrumental with their marketing campaigns. In addition to serving on our school board, Donna is a 1st grade Catechist here at Seton. As a board member, she is looking forward to working with the board representatives and further developing the goals and future growth of our school.
Donna will be serving her second year as a Parish Representative for the Seton School Council. She has been married to Bob for 25 years, and a parishioner for 21 years. They have two grown children (Alicia, 35 and Tyler, 22), and two grandchildren (Ashley, 14 and Jaxson, 8 months). Donna attended parochial school in Newburgh, NY from K-9th grade. She has a B.S. in Psychology/Social Work from Oswego State University, NY; and masters in Human Resources from Cameron University, Lawton, OK. Donna has been very involved in many parish ministries since 1994, and looks forward to serving again on our parish’s largest ministry, Seton Catholic School.
Mike Yaro is a Director of Worldwide Marketing for the supplies business for Lexmark International, Inc. He has held various product planning, finance, and marketing positions during his tenure at Lexmark International. He also held similar positions within IBM prior to the formation of Lexmark International in 1991. He is a graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Industrial Engineering. Mike and his family, wife Tamara and two daughters Jessica and Kristin, have been Lexington residents over 30 years. Both Jessica and Kristin are graduates of the University of Kentucky.
